The Ellington Wiffle Ball League and OpTIMism - a Today I Matter organization. The opTIMism organization is a non profit organization established in memory of Timothy Lally. Their mission is to reduce the stigma and shame of mental illness and addiction, and promote the physical, emotional, and mental health of the community. http://www.todayimatter.org/index.html
The organization is named after Tim Lally who passed away in 2016. Tim was one of the founding members of the Ellington Wiffle Ball league back in the 1990's. It was Tim's idea about the creation of the Lally field that got the EWBL up and running.
"This is a great way to honor Tim, and the work that opTIMism is currently doing in our community to raise awareness to mental illness and addiction", said Knickerbocker.
The two groups have met together and been granted by the Town of Ellington to utilize Brookside Park June 10 for their event.
The basic idea behind the event will be to see how many innings/participants the group can get onto the field. Groups will sign up by time slots, so anybody, any age, any ability can play! This will be a great FAMILY event!
More details will be coming very soon!
